One Lovely Blog Award – Nominated Three Times (Yes, THREE!)

Within the course of three (!) days, I have been nominated for this award three (THREE) times. I know!!! How could I possibly not accept it??

And now it has been nominated again and again, so five times!

Thanks ever so much to my lovely fellow bloggers My Worst Advice, Oxygen4theJourneyWendy Barrow, Through The Lense of My Life and Girl in the World! It does feel good to be appreciated. 🙂

Here’s how it works:

The One Lovely Blog Award nominations are chosen by bloggers for newer or up-and-coming fellow bloggers. The goal is to help give recognition and to also help the new blogger reach more viewers. It also recognizes blogs that are considered to be “lovely” by the blogger who chose them. This award acknowledges bloggers who share their story or thoughts in a beautiful manner to connect with their viewers and followers. In order to “accept” the award the nominated blogger must follow several guidelines.

The guidelines for the One Lovely Blog Award are:
  • Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
  • Add the One Lovely Blog Award logo to your post and/or blog (done, thanks very much to and @Rachel M).
  • Share 7 facts/or things about yourself.
  • Nominate 15 bloggers you admire and inform nominees by commenting on their blog.
Here are the seven facts about me:

1. I love Russian literature. I can talk to you for ages about my favourite writers and novels. And bore you to death.

2. I love music, but I totally dislike country music (sorry, no offence to country music fans!). As a matter of fact, all I know about it are some famous names – full stop.

3. When I was in secondary school, I published a short story about communist stuff that won some kind of an award. How last century is that??

4. I always thought my age gap with my parents was too big, but I had my first child exactly at the age my mum had me, 33.

5. I hate crying at movies – just not my thing. Still, I cried at the final scenes of ‘Home Alone 2’. Yup. In my defence, I must say I was heavily pregnant at the time.

6. First movie that made me cry was ‘Schindler’s List’.

7. A year ago I won a photo competition ( on Twitter) and am still awaiting my award (I am patient, I know!). Will let you know once I have received it!

  1. Congrats! I just started a blog and am looking for a voice if any. I might just have started another personal blog really and I’m okay with that for now. 🙂 Found you through Blogging 101.

    • Thank you, glad you enjoyed them. 🙂 As for the award, it’s a signed DVD by my biggest celebrity crush, so oh yeah, well worth it!! Funny enough, I got a message today to say they’ve posted it – how exciting, look out for a post about that! 😀

    • Hey, thanks for the ping back. 🙂 I get what you are saying about being anonymous – this is the same reason why I myself try not to reveal much about myself here. Good luck with everything. 🙂

  2. i like that you just didn’t put the name of the blogs on the list but cited also why you have chosen them. good idea. i have been nominated 6 times for blog awards but i am yet to accept any. I am honored though and appreciative of those people who take time to nominate me and grateful for their attention. keep up the good work and wish you all the best.

    • Thanks very much for stopping by and commenting! Yes, I think it is much better when you actually say something about the blogs you nominate, as this shows that you have actually read them, rather than just randomly select them. 😉 Well done to you for all these nominations, keep up the good work yourself!

Oh! How on earth did I miss this?? Good job I read your blog regularly, as I don’t think I’ve seen a ping-back (or whatever it’s called) notification. Thanks for your nice words. Ellen, much appreciated. As for the award – sure enough. Being a new blogger, I guess I’d accept everything and anything in the hope it will bring me more traffic, but maybe one day I’ll stop bothering. 🙂 Your great fan and sincerely dedicated reader, AK

Angie, I started following your blog recently, and love your creative writing. I wanted to put you on the nomination list for the One Lovely Blog Award, and glad I didn’t. Why? I haven’t followed you long enough to establish any kind of blogger relationship! And now I know your site is an Award-free Zone! I’m a new blogger and needed to learn these things. Thanks.

Ellen, so glad I found this post, and know your site is an Award-free Zone. I nominated you for One Lovely Blog Award. You already know I love your writing and the diverse posts. Please keep the thank you and gratitude anyway for following my blog. I’ve got more to say about the post about you, and I’ll send you my thoughts today.

I added my comment to Ellen as she was also on my nomination list. Really good to know there are some bloggers who do not accept awards, and for very good reasons.

    • Thanks for the comments. 🙂 I actually happily accept any awards, so if you had nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award, that would have been my fifth award. 🙂

Thanks very much for your nice words, it’s really encouraging to be appreciated!

      • Angie, had I known that, you would have certainly been on the list. Where did I get the idea you had an award-free zone site? I must have misinterpreted what you said in comments. So sorry! Next time if I ever get another award, you’re there # 1…
